wish you were here

We interrupt this hiatus to participate in the First Friday Inklings Challenge, a short and sweet one set by me during this time of travel and tasks, rest and recharge:

Write a short postcard poem with choice details of your vacation/holiday/ getaway/escape location and activities. Conclude with "Wish you were here" or some variation! Inspiration: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poems/159256/from-postcards
From "Postcards" by Bert Meyers

Mine's a little home-sweet-home message:

Thanks to Jan at BookSeedStudio (who is bringing us WATERMELON SUGAR--so special to me) for hosting us this holiday weekend.  Let's see where else we're receiving postcards from...

Mary Lee Hahn @ A(nother) Year of Reading

Catherine Flynn @ Reading to the Core

Molly Hogan @ Nix the Comfort Zone

Linda Mitchell @ A Word Edgewise
Margaret Simon @ Reflections on the Teche

  2. Hi dear Heidi! So glad you are back from a well-earned hiatus. This is a brilliantly warm & loving, important poem for us today & the fotos are such fun. Thanks for all the interesting post card poem links. I actually realize I know someone who is participating in that postcard exchange. {I mean, other than YOU!] Happy Summertime :)

  5. Heidi, So glad you came back for this sweetness. I see a chevron pattern on the margin of your postcard poem, like the triangle on the pride flag, maybe. Your poem celebrates your house for all. "there's no closet / you either wear your coat of many colors, or..." I had never heard Watermelon Sugar before, and I listened to in on your other post. I also subscribed to Cascadia Poetics Lab.

  7. I love the generosity that is Your Porch where "...everyone is both / in and out; there's no closet."
