resume

Thoughtful commentary will resume after I update my resume and prepare to find a new job. I am now officially an "involuntary transfer."
*sigh* In the meantime, slam bam thank you Mr. Mali...

Definitely beautiful.

Discuss what YOU make this Poetry Friday at A Year of Reading with Mary Lee....She makes me laugh.

  1. Oh, Heidi. I am sorry. Reading about your beautiful work with students, it's clear that they will remember the difference you have made in this year. And you'll continue to make one with a new lucky bunch. But I'm just sorry that you have to deal with this upheaval. 'Wish I could make you a margarita. A.

  4. Tears in my eyes.
    I could say more,
(they're running down my face now
what a way to start the morning)
    I could say lots more.
But I'll leave it at that.
    Tears.

  5. it was having my contract not renewed for the fourth year in a row (to avoid granting tenure so they could save money by keeping me and hundreds of others on the bottom of the salary scale, only to hire us back in august) that finally pushed me out of the teaching nest. i still hope i made a difference during my time in the classroom. best of luck.

  6. Heidi, good luck in finding a new teaching home. Teachers do way too much to be shuffled off this way. Know that you are valued by your students and honored by your friends.

  7. Heidi,

I'm sorry to hear your bad news. I hope things will look up for you soon.

I saw that Taylor Mali video recently. I actually watched it a few times. Thought it was great!

  8. Thanks to my friends across the KidLitosphere for the supportive words--most meaningful, believe me. It'll all work out, but it's all so troublesome, just when I had planned to spend April as a POET. Instead I'm going to be a CANDIDATE.

Ooh, ooh--maybe I'll compose a poem to perform at my interviews! Any principal who's not scared off by my Mali-like intensity (sans swearing)will be someone I can likely work with...

I am getting laid off & have been looking for a job too. It is terrifying and exciting at the same time. I try to see it as an opportunity for better ways to serve. Bless you as you search!
