thanks, anyway

<poem>

********************************

Join Carol and more of the Poetry Friday crew at Carol's Corner for a Thanksgiving weekend round-up. This week for the first time, someone I know personally and locally has had COVID (and, gratefully, gotten through it), but it has closed all the way in for so many. I hope you and yours are safe and well enough. 🧡

  1. Oh that transparent wire, the ways we misunderstand one another, and that final (heartbreaking) notch... brilliant, Heidi! xo

  2. What a wonderful poem of words I've never heard of before and how you wove them in and out of this sweet poem. Blown away!

  3. Whoa! Wow. How can so much scientific jargon wrap around a poem about the love between a daughter and a dad and a very different Thanksgiving that required such a delicate connection of a filament. I really don't know--except you've done it...beautifully as always.

  4. This poem. Brilliant. Original. Unusual. And then that last surprising, heart-breaking stanza. Phew. Such a sad, hard time.

  5. Here's another wow. Plus a few tears for the ending.

  6. The originality of your poem intrigues while the intricacy of your anatomical references educate me. Well written Heidi. The connection to the immediate world, the now moments seamlessly achieved adds to the power of your words. Well done.-Ear, ear!

  7. That turning away was heartbreaking, Heidi. The poem is both clever and beautiful. And now, excuse me while I go take deep breaths for all that is lost, every moment. (My sister-in-law in Texas is home recovering from covid/pneumonia, my first family member to get it.)

  8. So clever and I love the anatomical words that add a humorous contrast to the sadness of it all. Well done!

  9. Oh, beautiful...the blending of science words, the wrath of the virus, and missing those we love.
