#GlobalClimateStrike

A Found Poem Using Bits & Pieces
From Social Media

Good morning world

it's kicking off,
the sea is rising, and so are we

Melbourne Sydney
Mumbai  Assam

how dare that child
sail across the Atlantic
to beg Congress
not to kill the planet

environmental breakdown

impossible to ignore

Jakarta Kampala
Freiburg Berlin

the crisis won't wait
and neither will we

if you were smarter
we'd be in school

when your house is burning down
you don't wait 30 years
to call the fire brigade

Kyiv Prag
Newcastle London

climate change doesn't care about
your political stand

not a single government minister
has come out in support

we probably hit a record here

amidst the gloom
a moment of hope

let's hope everyone is listening

polar bears in Paris
DC New York

sweet suffering duck
this is absolutely massive
35
575
2500
15,000
30,000
80,000
100,000

if you breathe air
then you should care

  3. Thanks for this cheering on the crowds who are telling all the "musts" to do. Now if those who feel otherwise would unplug their ears & stop worrying about their money. The "found words" are all that's needed! Thanks, Heidi

    1. Yes! My most successful chant contribution was
      "Planet-
      Planet-
      Planet over profit!"
      A little poem there too.

  4. Environmental breakdown / impossible to ignore: Yes! Heidi, you captured what needs to be said. NYC kids had the day off to join the youth protest.

  5. Oh this ending! I hope and pray that government ministers are listening and planning on actions!

  6. Yes to all here Heidi. Your poem reminds me of many of the call and responses from the march in Chicago yesterday, one was, "planet before profit." And what's wrong with people why don't they know about Climate Strike Marches and care, Thanks!
