npm2020: poetry videos day 8 "Gazillipede"

My National Poetry Month Project 2020 is to record a short video each day in April, presenting my published poems to poetry lovers of all ages.

Today's poem imagines a very large, very creepy, very crawly creature.

Gazillipede

night is
        falling
                          the sun is
                          leaking its gold
                       green night-beetles are
              glinting
           glinting
something is
         creeping
                 something is
                           climbing
               stretching up  and
                   stretching up  and
                                stretching up  and
                                            down falls of cool water
                                                                through rivers of color
                                                                                    up to a gilded moon
something is
        creeping
                something is
                         climbing
            on a million tiny
                     billion tiny
                           trillion tiny feet
climbing the spine of the world
